Which binding method can I use for my thesis?

At Gildeprint you can choose from the following two binding methods:

Milled Glued / Perfectbind

Perfect binding is the most commonly used method of binding we use at Gildeprint. This way of binding mills the sheets at the spine. A bundle of loose sheets is glued to the cover with hot-melt glue. Perfect bind can be used with all sorts of paper and is often use for thesis and exercise books.

The advantages:

  • Short turnaround;
  • Price-wise the most favorable.

Disadvantage:

  • The quality is lower and less sustainable;
  • Not applicable to all paper types.

Sewn bending

This way of binding can be used with all sorts of paper. The printed sheets of 4, 8 or 16 pages are literally sewn together with thread. As the folded sections form a whole, a page cannot fall out.

The advantages of sewn bindings:

  • Applicable to all paper types;
  • Very strong and durable;
  • Flexible book, stays open well;
  • Chic look with unique possibilities.
